A Trip To The Fire Station

On Monday, Amos' preschool class went to the Fayetteville fire station.  We loaded all the car seats onto the bus, buckled in all the children and were off and running by 9:15 am.  When we got there, one of the women that works there gave them a lesson on what a fire detector was and what to do if you hear it go off....  They were told to crawl on the floor so they don't breathe in the smoke from the fire and get out of the house as quickly as possible.  Then the lady said, "what do you do when you get outside?  Do you run around your neighborhood looking for mom and dad?"  They all answered, no.  Then she said, "what would be a good meeting place?"  And one sweet little voice said, "Chuck-E-Cheese!!!"

After their little lesson, they got to climb inside a fire truck and learn all about it.  Next, we moved on to the living quarters of the fire station.  They got to see where the firemen eat, sleep, shower and workout, but their favorite part was the famous pole!  All of the kids loved to watch the firemen slide down the pole.

They all learned so much and had such a great time.  I'm so glad they let me tag along for all the fun!

What a big boy!
Aren't they all so cute in their little car seats?
Amos and his buddy, Jimmy.
Right after I took this picture Amos said, "Mom, I'm so glad you came with me."  Isn't that sweet?!
Walking up to the fire station
I like this picture because the truck is in the background!
Amos touching a fireman's hat!!!
In this picture, they had one of the guys get dressed in all his gear in front of the kids so they wouldn't be scared if they ever had to be rescued in a fire.

This was my favorite picture!!!!    :-)

Gracie Lost Her First Tooth!

This morning I was standing in the kitchen making breakfast and Grace walked in and said, "mom, I think today is the day my tooth will come out."  So I said, "let's take a look and see."  It was barely hanging on, so I told her I thought I could pull it for her pretty easily.  She said, "are you going to yank it out?  Because if you are... forget it!"  After I stopped laughing, I got some toilet paper and grabbed her tooth and it popped right out!  She cried for a second because it started to bleed, but as soon as she realized it was out, she quickly got over it!  I actually think she might go to bed early because the tooth fairy is coming to visit!

This picture was taken Friday morning before school. I thought it would fall out at school, so I had to take a picture!

That's one VERY wiggly tooth!
This picture was taken today right after she lost it.
 "Mommy, it's soooo tiny!"
"Do you think the tooth fairy will let me keep it?"

Fun, Fun, Fun!

Today we went to a birthday party for Gracie's little friend, Georgia.  Her mother, Shannon, planned to have her party in their backyard, but because of the rain they moved it to the church.

The kids jumped on a big blow-up bouncy toy for two hours, and got good and sweaty (hopefully, they will be good and tired at bedtime!).

Shannon painted faces and did such a great job!  Kent requested R2D2 and it turned out awesome!

Grace had a castle on her face and a rose on her hand.  She was so proud!

Amos got a green snake painted on his arm and it was so cool!  I have to say, his choice of animal didn't surprise me!  He is a nut over spiders, snakes, crickets, ants and basically anything creepy!

I am looking forward to a relaxing Saturday afternoon.  I plan on a little blogging, TV watching, eating and lots of sleeping!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Life at Our House

Yesterday was Gracie's first day of Cheerleading, and boy was she excited.  She didn't know anyone in the class of sixteen girls, but jumped right in and was a little chatter box.  I am so thankful that she is not shy like I was, but some times she's over the top!  She told her daddy that she wanted to quit ballet/tap, because getting to shake her booty in a cheerleading outfit would be a lot more fun!  Funny, huh! I don't think Billy is to excited about this class!

Kent is still doing well in school and STILL not offering up any information about his day!  Billy tells me that's normal, and boys just don't want to talk.  Oh well.  Thank goodness for Grace, she's a talker!  Anyway, Amos is doing okay too.  Amazingly, he has been pretty calm in his class and has absorbed so much!  He is drawing some really cool pictures and writing his name.  We are so proud!  Work is still going great, but I'm looking forward to the weekend!  :-)

Sorry the post today isn't very exciting.  I was going to take pictures of Grace in her new class yesterday, but I was a little bit intimidated by all the parents watching!  I just think pictures are fun for the blog. Maybe the next post I will do better!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday!

Update on Catherine

Well, all of the information that I am about to write came from my sweet husband.  So here we go... Billy was at the hospital on and off today to sit with David.  Catherine was supposed to go into surgery around 7:00 am, but didn't go in until somewhere around 10:00 am.  The doctors found that she had a kink in her colon and lots of infection in her intestine.  They were able to fix it, but from what I understand, she still has a tube to drain all the icky from the ruptured appendix.  The doctor said it could take up to a couple of weeks to completely drain everything.  I don't know if that means she will remain in the hospital, or if they will somehow let her go home (if she is feeling up to it).

At this moment, I think they are taking one step at a time.  We are faithfully praying for our friend and have full confidence that God is in control and His grace and mercy will touch her body.  Please continue to pray.  She will probably have a long road ahead.

Prayer Request

Please lift up our good friend, Catherine Wilson, in prayer.  She was admitted to the hospital a week ago for a ruptured appendix.  Since removing the appendix, things have gotten worse.  We learned earlier in the week that her veins had collapsed and they had to put in a central line.  The doctors have put in a tube to drain fluid, but she is still feeling icky.  Yesterday they moved her to a different hospital were she will undergo surgery for a mass they found during a CT scan.

We are asking everyone who reads this to please, stop and take a moment to pray for her and her family.  She has two precious little boys and a husband that is very concerned for her.  We are praying that God will heal her sick body.

I will do my best to update when I hear how the surgery went today.

Thank you, and have a blessed day!

Sweet Little Ones

Once again, I really couldn't think of anything exciting to post about, so I decided to share some of my favorite pictures of my kiddos.  Here are a few that need to be on the ol'blog!
KENT:
His first t-ball game
Fishing in Nana and Pawpaw Stan's pond
Making lovely faces at Mom

GRACE:
I love this picture!  This is Gracie's favorite doll, Emily.
She loves her brothers!
She hates broccoli!
Playing dress up is one of her favorite things!
AMOS:
This picture was taken at school last year during a party in Kent's class.  He was in "time out" for being crazy (imagine), and this is the face he was making at me!
This one makes me laugh every time!!!
I'm beginning to see a pattern!

I'm not sure why, but he is totally obsessed with spiders
Hope you enjoyed!

God bless, and have a wonderful week!
