SO Frustrated!!!

Well, once again, I have done something REALLY stupid!  You see, we are attending our annual Super Bowl party with some friends tomorrow, and we are all supposed to bring a snack.  Well, last year for my birthday my mom gave me a set of really cool cookie cutters, and I thought, this would be the perfect opportunity to make some awesome cookies.  So, I searched my recipes for my special Martha Stewart sugar cookie recipe, made a list of what I needed from the store, went to the store, came home and attempted to make these wonderful cookies.

So here is the upsetting part.... I usually make the royal icing with meringue powder, but I didn't have any so I used two egg whites.  AFTER I finished I thought, should I refrigerate these or not, so I "Googled" it.

Do you see where I'm going with this???

There it was, big as Dallas.... DO NOT EAT ROYAL ICING MADE WITH EGG WHITES!  Apparently  it is just for decoration.

Okay, so there are actually people in this world that purposely make cookies that take 3.5 hours to make, just to look at and NOT eat?

WHY????????

After much anger about this situation, I proudly showed them to my husband.  For those of you that don't know him, he doesn't get excited about much (especially cookies!).  Anyway, I  peeled the foil off the pan and he said, "Oh, wow!" So, then I told him what I did, and we convinced ourselves that if they were eaten soon, people might not get salmonella poisoning.

I just wrapped them up for him to take to work tonight and share with all the good people at the Post Office!

Gosh, I hope we are right!  :-)

Happy Birthday, Grace Kathryn!

Sunday, was our sweet Grace's 6th birthday.  I'm a day late posting, because I had trouble finding all the pictures I wanted to post.  So here goes....

She has been begging her daddy to let her pierce her ears, and so... for her birthday that's what we did!

She was incredible!  She sat in the little chair just as confident as could be, and one of the women that was helping us said, "Honey, do you need your brother to hold your hand?"  and she replied, "No way... I'm good!"

Right after they were done, she calmly looked up at me and said, "Are they done yet?  I thought you said this would hurt!"

I couldn't believe it!  Not a tear or compliant of any kind!

She looked in the mirror with the biggest smile and said, "are these 'real' ear rings?"

Drawing the "dot"
This picture makes me cringe!
After we left the store, she said, "this was the best birthday ever, and nothing can top this day!"
So proud!
I can't believe you are already six years old.  It seems like yesterday you were a tiny baby.  Happy birthday my sweet angel!  You make my heart melt and put a smile on my face!  Mommy loves you SO much!

Giddy Up!

After school yesterday, we took the kids to Billy's Mom and Dad's to ride horses.  Gracie's poor horse, Thore, was probably exhausted when we left.  She rode him FOREVER!  Anyway, they all had a great time and we can't wait until it starts to warm up so we can ride more!
