Goodbye Internet

I'm sad to say, that as of Friday, we will no longer have our internet connection.  Billy and I have been talking for a while about turning off the cable and internet.  Since things are kinda tight right now, and our kids are watching too much television, we decided now is the time.  Not only will we be forced to do more family oriented activities together, we won't be filling our minds with trash.  My kids have picked up more filthy talk from cartoons than from school!  That's shocking to me! Anyway, I will keep my blog but it will only be updated when I have access to a computer.  I will do my best to keep up as often as possible, I promise!

I hope everyone has had a wonderful week so far!

Love,
Amanda

Lots to Say

First of all, I want to say "thank you" to all my sweet friends that prayed for my sickly family.  I hesitate to post about our illnesses, but at the same time, it's nice to know we are being covered in loving prayers.  We appreciate you so much!   :-)

DRUM ROLL PLEASE.......

I am happy to FINALLY report, that my entire crew is well!  Kent was feeling better by day two (on the antibiotic), and was back at school on Wednesday.  Billy, is still having some pain, but is MUCH better than he was this time last week.  Grace, Amos and myself, are healthy as can be!  Yea!!!

Okay, I had to share this darling photo.  Is this not the cutest?!

I forgot it was photo day at school, and sent her in pigtails.  Had I remembered, I wouldn't have done that, but I'm so glad I did now.  She just looks so stink n' cute!

Yesterday, we decided to go out to the lake for some fishing.  Once again, I failed to catch anything, but it was fun!

After the lake, we stopped by Mimi and Grandpa's to have a look at their new baby ducks and chicks.  I have to say... the ducks were my favorite!  It kinda made me want one!  :-)

Pray it Away!

I know I post a lot about sickness in our family, but that's usually our life!

Last I reported, Billy was doing great.  Now things are not so hot.  Friday he started hurting really bad, and now we think he may have infection.  I guess I am posting to ask you to pray for him.  I can't imagine someone cutting inside my mouth just to reach something in my sinuses.  His face is still puffy and he tells me inside his mouth (where the stitches are) feels hot.  This is not good. Please pray that God would heal him and make him able to rest comfortably.

One more prayer request... Kent started feeling sick on Saturday morning.  By Saturday night, he had a headache, his throat was hurting, he had fever an was vomiting.  By last night he developed a rash all over his abdomen and throat with stomach pain.  This morning we went to the doctor and he was diagnosed with Scarlet Fever.  The doctor tell me this is very contagious.  I can't imagine what would happen if this spread to Billy.  I have thrown away toothbrushes, washed the bed sheet and have disinfected everything in sight.  I would just ask that you pray this sickness away.  It has been a long weekend, and I am ready for the light at the end of the tunnel!    :-)

An Egg Party!

We had a lot of fun decorating Easter eggs today.  We started off with two dozen eggs, but ended up coloring only fifteen because I cracked eight and Grace cracked one!  Don't ask me how!!!  It started off kinda rough, but we had a great time in the end!

Anxiously waiting for me to put the camera down!

Amos wanted me to take a picture of his blue egg

Ta dah!
Hunting eggs in the front yard...

It's funny how they all have their own method with the eggs...

Kent, opens one at a time.

Grace, counts them carefully.

Amos, opens all his eggs as fast as he can so he can pick out the best candy and eat it before someone else does!

Happy Easter!

Oh, so sweet!

Okay, I need to brag on my husband for a minute...

Tuesday, Billy had surgery for the third time for his polyps.  The last two times they went through his nose, and this time they went through his mouth into his sinuses.  He has a mouth full of stitches and a swollen face now, but he is doing great.

Anyway... Wednesday while I was at work, these beautiful flowers were delivered to me.  At first I thought, what?  This is a mistake.  The only person that would send me a dozen roses is laying in a bed for the next ten days on pain medication, unable to drive, let alone think clearly enough to send flowers.  So, when I opened the card it said, "I love you - Billy Mayes" (he always signs his last name... I'm not sure why).  I quickly called him, and he said he went to the florist the day before his surgery and arranged for the flowers to be delivered  the day after his surgery.  Isn't that so sweet?  He is always thinking ahead.

Thank you for the beautiful flowers, Billy.  I love you too!

A Special Day

Palm Sunday is the beginning of an exciting week.  Most of you know, this is the day that Jesus rode in the town of Jerusalem on a colt and was worshiped by the people as their earthly king. When I close my eyes, I can imagine what that was like. How awesome that must have been for those people!

Every year on Palm Sunday, our church gathers the children and waves palm branches during the morning service.  It is a special event that I always look forward to.  I was especially looking forward to it today, because I expected Amos to ask why we were waving "leaves".  Sure enough he asked me, and it was the perfect opportunity to explain all that Jesus endured in the week leading up to his death.

As I was putting on his pajamas tonight, Amos said to me, "Mom? Did you know that Jesus died on the cross for me?"  I said, "Yes, honey.  Isn't that so amazing that He would die so that one day we could be with him in heaven forever?"  Amos quickly replied, "I hope Abby knew about Jesus, because I really want to see her again."  Abby is our yellow lab that died a little over a year ago!  Anyway, it got him thinking!

I am so looking forward to next week.  I have to say, Easter is my number one favorite holiday!  Every year I am overwhelmed by the thought of Christ sacrifice for us.  Many times I have thought... what if I had been in Mary's place, and God had sent one of my boys to be savior of the world to die one day on a cross.  I can not bare the thought!  How unworthy I am to be given this gift.  We have been blessed beyond all measure!

I hope everyone has a great week and a fantastic Easter!

Kent's Play at School

Tonight was Kent's Spring Program at school.  We were supposed to be there at 6:15, but that didn't happen.  We ended up being late and getting bad seats.   So, just to let you know... this video isn't the greatest.  I discovered that my camera also records video, and it's a little shaky.
If you want to hear the sound, you'll need to mute the music on my play list.
